Analytics

The retention picture — what a subscription business actually gets judged on

1. The four tabs

Where to find it: Sublyra admin → Analytics in the main navigation. Every metric card on the Home page is also a shortcut here.

TabWhat it shows
OverviewKey metrics for the selected range, a trend chart with a metric toggle (revenue / orders / average order value), and point-in-time retention metrics (MRR, save rate, payment recovery, churn rate).
CohortsRetention by signup month — how much of each cohort is still subscribed N months later. Growth plan and above.
ProductsRevenue by product — your top subscription products with units sold.
Churn analysisWhy subscribers leave: cancel-flow answers with the save rate for each reason.
Where the numbers come from. Everything is computed from Sublyra's local mirror of your order and contract history, kept current by webhooks — dashboards never hit Shopify per page load, so they load fast and stay accurate to the last event.

2. Date ranges, grouping & comparison

The toolbar at the top of the page applies every change immediately:

3. The KPIs, defined

MetricDefinition
RevenueSubscription revenue in the selected range — checkout (first) orders plus recurring charges.
OrdersSubscription orders recorded in the range.
Average order valueRevenue divided by orders in the range.
New subscribersSubscriptions started in the range (with churned-in-range count below).
Churn rate — periodChurned subscribers in the range as a share of subscribers at period start.
Recovered revenueRevenue from orders whose first charge failed and a later retry succeeded — the money dunning won back.
MRRThe normalised monthly value of all currently active subscriptions.
Save rateShare of cancellation attempts deflected by a save offer.
Payment recoveryShare of failed charges eventually recovered by smart retries.

4. Reading the cohort table

1 Each row is a signup month, with its size — the subscribers who joined that month.

2 Each column (M0, M1, M2…) is months since signup. A cell shows the share of that cohort still subscribed then.

3 Cells are color-coded on a red-to-green scale — red toward 0% retained, green toward 100%. The bottom row is the size-weighted average across all cohorts, and hovering any cell gives the exact counts.

What good looks like: columns that stay green as you read right. A sharp drop between M0 and M1 points at onboarding or first-delivery experience; a slow fade points at product fatigue. Cohort retention analytics is on the Growth plan and above.

The Churn analysis tab complements this: cancel reasons with their deflection rate. A high save rate on a reason means your offer for it is working; a low one tells you which save offer to rethink.

5. Sample data & how to clear it

Evaluating Sublyra before you have real subscribers? The Analytics page can load a fictional sample dataset — subscribers and orders across the last 10 months — so every tab, chart and cohort is populated.

1 On an empty Analytics page, click Explore with sample data (it's also at the bottom of the page once you have real data).

2 While sample data is loaded, an amber "Sample data is on" banner stays visible, with the exact counts (customers, subscriptions, orders). It shows on every page where sample rows can surface — you always know when you're looking at fiction.

3 Done exploring? Click Remove sample data on the banner. One click, gone.

Sample data never touches your Shopify store. It lives only inside Sublyra — no products, orders or customers are created in Shopify, and your real data is untouched. Sample events are marked demo-seed in the activity log, so you can always tell them apart from the real thing.

6. FAQ

Why don't analytics match my Shopify reports exactly?

Sublyra reports on subscription activity from its webhook-fed mirror — Shopify's reports count your whole store. For subscription-only numbers, Sublyra's are the ones to trust.

Can I export these numbers?

Yes — Subscriptions, Orders, Customers and the audit log all export to CSV from their pages, and Settings → Data export offers CSV or Excel for contracts, customers, orders, analytics and the full audit log.

The Cohorts tab is locked. What do I need?

Cohort retention analytics is a Growth-plan feature (also included in Plus). See Plans & billing.

I cleared the sample data but still see old events in the log.

Clearing removes the sample customers, contracts, orders and their demo-seed audit entries together. Anything logged after that is real activity.
